The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) is a new government agency established to oversee Singapore’s communicable disease preparedness, prevention and control, surveillance, risk assessment and outbreak response.

You will provide strategic leadership and manage a team that carries out advanced epidemiological studies, in-depth data analytics and infectious disease modelling, during peace time and crisis, to deliver rigorous, timely and credible data-backed insights which support evidence-based policy making and decision as well as public health interventions.

What will you be working on?

  • Develop and execute the strategy and workplan, including prioritization of work and goal setting, for the Epidemiology and Analytics branch of the Advanced Methods and Analytics Division.
  • Oversee the design and conduct of advanced epidemiological and biostatistical analyses, so as to elucidate the distribution of communicable diseases and associated risk factors in the community, and the impact of public health interventions.
  • Provide strategic direction and spearhead the exploration, development and deployment of advanced analytics, machine learning and deep learning models to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Oversee the conduct of programme evaluations, cost-effectiveness analyses and burden of disease studies.
  • Oversee the conduct of infectious disease modelling to assess possible disease trajectories and impact of interventions, and the derivation of forecasts for different disease scenarios.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the strategy for commissioning work by external partners as needed, for specific projects
  • Build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders

What are we looking for?

  • Minimally a recognised education in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or a related field.
  • Doctoral preferred.
  • At least 10 years in the field of public health, biostatistics, data analytics, data science or modelling.
  • At least 4 years in a leadership role.
  • Significant experience in conducting advanced epidemiologic studies, advanced biostatistics or mathematical methods, and/or infectious disease modelling
  • Strong track record of publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals on epidemiologic studies, modelling work or other relevant studies.
  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and responsible.
  • Possess good time/priority management, resilient and flexible under the pressure.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and team management skills, and strong stakeholder management experience.
