What the role is

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working in the outdoors and with people. You will be part of the team based at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

What you will be working on

There are 2 positions available for application:

Position 1 for Rail Corridor and Bukit Batok

You will be key in planning, conducting and overseeing of conservation, park development and maintenance programmes as well as carrying out enforcement operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct tree, site and trail inspections

- Manage and maintain facilities and oversee relevant contracts

- Respond to public feedback

- Process and manage permits and usage requests

- Conduct daily ground patrols and assist with enforcement against illegal activities

- Facilitate habitat enhancement/restoration sessions including One Million Trees (OMT) and Invasive Species Management (ISM) activities

- Plan and conduct citizen science surveys

- Assist in development projects by conducting site walks and checks with contractors and consultants, as well as monitoring ongoing works

Position 2 Outreach and Education Officer

You will be involved in community engagement and outreach programming and activities, while supporting conservation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan, coordinate and implement outreach programmes and activities

- Coordinate, facilitate and supervise One Million Trees (OMT) and Invasive Species Management (ISM) activities

- Manage website content for Bukit Timah Nature Reserve branch

- Develop and manage outreach and educational content (including orientation/training slides and biodiversity materials)

- Review and revamp online content for the branch

- Update educational programme content and collaterals

- Plan, coordinate and facilitate outreach booths at roadshows and events (e.g. Festival of Biodiversity, Parks Festival)

What we are looking for

- Areas of study in Environmental Management, Life Science, Geography, Horticulture, Zoology, or related discipline is preferred

- Advantageous to have basic animal and plant identification skills

- Possess good writing, interpersonal and communication skills

- An organized, creative and resourceful team player who is able to work independently

- Enjoy working in an outdoor environment and has a keen interest in nature conservation

- Preferably possess a Class 3 driving licence

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Successful candidates will be offered an 11-month employment contract.
