Internal Audit Department (IAD)
IAD is an independent and objective assurance function to evaluate the effectiveness of SSG's governance, risk management and system of internal controls.
Under the scope of IAD’s assurance activities, we project manage/ perform internal audits on SSG, to provide assurance on the safeguarding of assets and resources, effective and efficient deployment of resources, reliability of records and information, compliance with established policies, procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and the achievement of operational or programme objectives. Other activities undertaken by IAD include the management of SSG's whistleblowing hotline and other compliance and advisory activities.

What the role is
What you will be working on
The jobholder will support the Grant Audit Management team in grant compliance and process audits. He/She will be responsible for conducting audits on grant recipients to ensure compliance to the funding terms and conditions and proper utilisation of funds. This role also includes evaluating internal controls and processes to strengthen financial governance and mitigate risks. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders are essential.
The candidate will have the following key responsibilities:
Audit management
- Conduct audits on grant recipients to ensure the compliance with the funding terms and conditions and identify discrepancies or irregularities in grant usage
- Conduct audits and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls related to grant management
- Review financial reports and documentation submitted by grant recipients for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare detailed audit reports, and present findings and recommendations on corrective actions
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on compliance and control measures
- Manage the delivery and performance of service providers/ appointed auditors appointed to conduct Grant Compliance Audits (GCAs) and Process Audits (Pas)
Audit framework development
- Assist in developing and reviewing grant audit frameworks and procedures related to grant management, auditing and internal controls
- Leverage on data to monitor, review and fine-tune strategies as well as drive process improvement
- Review the coverage and scope of GCAs and PAs to ensure that sufficient and relevant checks are conducted in relation to the funding terms and conditions
The candidate is also expected to support other assurance, compliance and advisory activities as required by IAD.
What we are looking for
• Possess the required competencies to execute the job duties proficiently
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience in internal/external audit
• Proficient in use of technology, tools or ground intelligence to analyse and interpret data and propose next course of actions
• Strong partnership and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
• Adaptable and able to thrive in disruptions or new challenges
• Possess strong policy acumen as well as good writing, project management and presentation skills
• Good analytical skills with advanced hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Excel (such as formula functions, pivot tables)
• Keen interest to keep abreast of new trends and developments to identify opportunities to improve existing policies, processes or strategies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge related to grant regulations, compliance requirements, internal control frameworks, financial and accounting principles, risk management and controls would be an advantage
