Singapore’s transition to a low-carbon economy is one of the fundamental transitions of our time. MTI, as chair of Carbon and Energy Transition Working Group (CETWG) and Economic Transition Working Group (ETWG), as well as the Ministry responsible for energy policy will need to address the trilemma of the carbon, energy and economic transitions. We will need to create new policies to navigate the increasingly stark trade-offs between energy security, net-zero and sustainable economic growth.
MTI is responsible for 3 out of 3 major carbon mitigation measures endorsed by IMCCC – Renewable Energy imports, Carbon Credit procurement, Carbon Capture and Storage (“CCS”). These measures are key to meeting our near-term 2030 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and are presently moving into critical implementation phase.
The successful implementation of CCS will require complex public-private partnership, significant infrastructure investments, G2G agreements, and new legislation and regulations. This will have to be done under compressed timelines, and require strong partnerships with stakeholders across Ministries, agencies and private sector players.

What you will be working on
