Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) are pivotal in modernizing public service delivery, as well as driving innovation and efficiency in the public sector. By integrating STE, cutting-edge solutions and strategies that address complex societal challenges are made possible, significantly improving the quality of life for citizens. The role is with the programme team in the Public Sector Science and Technology Policy and Plans Office (S&TPPO). The programme team support the planning and execution of the Singapore Energy Transition by providing Science & Technology roadmap and transition plans pertaining to Singapore’s large scale energy system. Additionally, the team works with multi-agencies to develop the plans for testbedding and trial of future energy concepts.

• Develop Science and Technology (S&T) transition plans pertaining to Singapore’s large scale energy system, eg Ops Tech Roadmap and System Architecture. Conceptualise new concepts of operations and develop next level of details • Analyse R&D landscape and various funding initiatives (related to future energy) in Singapore, eg to perform gap analysis and focus area recommendations. Identify where critical capabilities should reside and determine resourcing plan/governance to support this. • Support for public sector projects and master planning work such as agencies “build” projects (eg. testbeds and S&T trials) by identifying and coordinating stakeholder requirements to refine what Singapore’s Future Energy System will be including potential S&T solutions. • Secure funding to ensure pipeline of planned public sector projects will be adequately resourced. This is especially important for new and currently non-commercially viable S&T solutions.

• Background in Science or Engineering or Materials Science or Life Sciences, or related field • Min 3 years of work experience in relevant areas, with technical background in fields related to Future Energy or in the Science or Engineering field

The Public Sector Science and Technology Policy and Plans Office (S&TPPO) is a department under the Prime Minister’s Office and serves as the functional leader for the Science, Technology and Engineering (STE) domain in public sector. We collaborate with other centre-of-government agencies to identify, resource and review key STE capabilities, and leverage STE as an enabler to transform operations to deliver more cost-effective and cost-efficient outcomes, thereby building a future-ready and more sustainable Singapore. S&TPPO also aims to develop and implement HR strategies and levers to strengthen capability development and career value proposition of STE professionals in the Singapore Public Service.
