What the role is
What you will be working on
Responsibilities
- Administration of acquisitions, donations, and incoming loans, including execution of legal agreements, plan and procure services for logistics, condition reporting and conservation.
- Attend to customs / CITES / Arms & Explosives requirements and inspections, as well as couriering of shipments when required.
- Registrar support for exhibitions, gallery rotation and maintenance works, as well as building development works, including scheduling, space planning, artefact movement tracking, art-handling supervision, logistics and conservation arrangements, and maintenance of artefact inventory records.
- Management of the operational running of the artefact stores at the museums, including control of access, artefact inventory registration, environmental and pest checks and monitoring, storage and material supplies etc.
- Plan and manage outgoing loans and travelling exhibitions as and when necessary, including managing the budgets, procurement work and project timeline.
- Administration of insurance matters, stock-take and inventory checks on heritage materials, artefact viewing and documentation sessions, artefact valuation / re-valuation and scientific testing etc, and any reporting for the division.
- Effective communication and liaison with stakeholders, project partners, curators, project managers, exhibition managers, Heritage Conservation Centre etc
What we are looking for
- Preferably at least 3 years of relevant experience in the art and culture industry, especially in museums and galleries
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to multi-task and work within tight project timelines
- Meticulous and attentive to details
- Keen interest in culture and the arts; sensitivity to historical artefacts
