What you will be working on

As Assistant Director / Senior Assistant Director (POPD1), you will work closely in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, and be involved in the following:
Conduct overall strategic planning with a view to developing, reviewing, and updating NEA’s strategic priorities and policies, taking into account international developments, whole-of-government (WOG) agenda, technological and research advancements, horizontal enabling tools, and organisational resources.
Review and draft key strategic policies and formulate new emerging policies, especially for Groups and Divisions without or with limited organic policy capabilities.
Support Senior Management on key offensives and arrowheads under NEA’s strategic priorities by developing overall frameworks and providing progress updates, while working closely with Divisions responsible for delivery.
Participate in cross-departmental workgroups on environmental protection issues, waste management infrastructure planning and development projects.
Coordinate NEA’s inputs in preparation for annual Committee of Supply budget debates, as well draft replies to Parliamentary Questions.
Coordinate and prepare materials for senior management's participation in high-level inter-agency committees.
Manage and grow a high-performance team.
Any other duties as assigned.

The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
At least 5 to 7 years of experience in policy-making/strategic planning and/or solid waste management/carbon emissions-related work and/or inter-agency work is preferred.
Passion for environmental protection and adept at engaging both industry and public stakeholders.
Adaptable and able to handle diverse work scopes.
Able to manage a team effectively.
Highly self-motivated, resourceful and resilient.
Strong analytical, communication, writing and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous with an eye for detail.
Able to work under tight timelines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Knowledge or experience with economic analysis/cost-benefit analysis would be an advantage.
Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.
