What the role is

Singapore will be hosting the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) General Meeting (GM) for the first time in 2027 – a major international event that will bring together global standardisation and conformity assessment stakeholders in the IEC community.
As Deputy Director, you will lead a dedicated project team to oversee the strategic planning and execution of the event, working with agencies, industries and international partners to ensure successful delivery and strong national positioning.
As part of the Standards Division, you will also have opportunities to collaborate with industry experts, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, professional bodies, industry associations and other stakeholders to identify and develop national and international standards in areas such as sustainability, digitalisation and resilience.

What you will be working on

• Lead the strategic planning, coordination and execution of a high-profile international standardisation event, involving multiple programme elements and high-level engagements.

• Shape the event’s overarching themes and narratives aligned to national strategic interests, including innovations and areas of thought leadership relevant to standards and conformance.

• Engage WOG agencies and local industry stakeholders to drive coordinated national effort that will bring maximum benefit to Singapore.

• Collaborate with IEC and other global stakeholders to drive strategic alignment with event objectives and global trends.

• Oversee end-to-end project implementation, including procurement, vendor partnerships, programme development, event operations, budget management, sponsorship development, marketing and post-event evaluation, in partnership with a Professional Conference Organiser.

What we are looking for

• Strong experience in cross-agency and/or public-private project coordination, especially involving strategic planning or high-level engagements.

• Prior experience in organising large-scale events with multiple stakeholders is highly desirable.

• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strategic thinker who is adaptable, resourceful and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong project management and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

• Passionate about contributing to high-impact national and international initiatives.
