You will be part of the Data Office within MinLaw’s Strategic Planning and Policy Division. The Data Office formulates and executes the data governance/security frameworks, policy and standards, in close partnership with various functional teams to coordinate and build up data capabilities within MinLaw to guide policy formulation and strategy. To strengthen MinLaw's regulatory oversight and enhance data protection standards across its regulated sectors, this role will also be involved in developing and implementing data governance risk management frameworks with MinLaw's regulatory divisions for their regulated sectors.

What the role is
What you will be working on
Key Responsibilities:
i. Formulate risk management strategies, frameworks, policies, and processes for MinLaw's regulatory divisions to govern the data governance and cybersecurity posture of regulated sectors.
ii. Develop and maintain relevant data protection and cybersecurity guidelines, advisories, and self-assessment checklists for regulated entities.
iii. Conduct thorough gap analyses to identify data protection risks within regulated sectors.
iv. Ensure all guidelines and advisories remain current with industry best practices through regular reviews and updates.
v. Provide expert guidance to regulatory divisions on handling cyber and data incidents reported by regulated entities.
vi. Advise regulated divisions on guiding their entities towards obtaining relevant cybersecurity and data protection certifications.
vii. Liaise effectively with internal divisions, regulated entities, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
viii. Foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness and compliance across all levels of the organisation and regulated sectors.
ix. Develop MinLaw’s data infrastructure to support data collection, storage, use and sharing;
x. Establish data governance/security frameworks in line with WOG imperatives;
xi. Monitor data breaches and safeguarding data security.

While officers are hired for specific roles within the division at the start, officers have the opportunity to work in different or multiple sections within the division, taking into consideration the officers’ competencies and development needs, as well as the needs of the division.
Successful candidates will be appointed on a 1-year contract in the first instance, subject to renewal.
