What the role is
What you will be working on
You will develop policies to strengthen labour standards, employment laws, and fair employment practices. Your work will help foster workplace harmony, adapt to evolving societal views of work, and prepare for long-term shifts in economic, demographic, and technological changes. Key responsibilities include:
• Tackling workplace discrimination through the implementation of the Workplace Fairness Act;
• Studying workplace trends (such as the use of AI in hiring decisions, and prevalence of remote working) and their implications,
• Proposing policies to better support different archetypes of workers (e.g. platform workers, self-employed persons);
• Reviewing and strengthening core labour laws such as the Employment Act; and
• Developing policy tools to achieve intended outcomes, e.g. legislation, various forms of tripartite guidelines, or other non-legislative means.
Success in this role requires strong critical and systems thinking skills to balance diverse perspectives and assess policy trade-offs. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior policymakers and political office holders, and engage with diverse stakeholders – including unions, employer associations, NGOs, and other teams within MOM and other government agencies.
