[Internship 2025/2026] Science of Cities , CLC (Nov 2025 to Apr 2026)

Ministry of National Development

Internship

Closing on 31 Mar 2026

What the role is

Anchored within the Ministry of National Development’s Broader Research and Innovation Effort, the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) leads the Science of Cities (SoC) workstream as a core initiative under the Ministry of National Development’s (MND) comprehensive strategy to advance urban research, innovation, and sustainability in Singapore. The SoC workstream is designed to deepen research in urban complexity and systems science, contributing directly to MND’s mission to foster evidence-based urban solutions and to strengthen Singapore’s position as a global hub for liveable cities. In FY26, the SoC workstream will culminate in the annual Science of Cities Symposium, held in conjunction with the World Cities Summit (WCS) from 14 to 16 June 2026 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. By embedding the Symposium within WCS, CLC ensures that the outcomes and insights of the SoC workstream are showcased on a premier international platform, amplifying the impact of MND’s broader urban innovation agenda. As part of its ongoing support for MND’s research ecosystem, CLC will also contribute to the Urban Solutions and Sustainability (USS) R&D Congress, which is typically held in odd years; the 2026 edition is an exception, scheduled for February 2026. This Congress serves as an interim milestone within the ministry’s multi-year research cycle, bringing together government, academia, and industry to share research outcomes, foster collaboration, and align efforts towards national priorities in urban solutions and sustainability. Interns will play a vital role in supporting the SoC workstream within MND’s research and innovation portfolio, contributing to both the planning and execution of the Science of Cities Symposium at WCS 2026 and the interim USS R&D Congress.
