What the role is

The Hawker Centres Group is embarking on an innovative Smart Hawker Centre (SHC) programme that harnesses the power of technology and data analytics to transform traditional hawker centres. This initiative aims to enhance productivity, boost vibrancy, streamline operations, and develop people-centric solutions that serve our key stakeholders effectively.

What you will be working on

You will be responsible for the overall synergy and cohesiveness of implementing new IT system and SHC-related initiatives, which could lead to policy refinements, process redesigns, system upgrades, technology adoptions and behavioural nudges. You will work with respective division/departments and leverage on Agile methodology to ensure successful project implementation. Beyond the SHC programme, you may be assigned to manage other IT and non-IT projects that support the organisation's broader objectives. Areas covered include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and oversee the trial and implementation on the provision of data on footfall and table/seat occupancy rate and tray return rates, including exploring the use of IOT/Sensors in hawker centres and tracking of information through the use of video analytics and sensor analytics.

  • Review and evaluate data for better management of hawkers/stalls and the hawker centre e.g. stall operating hours, energy/water consumption, etc, and possible integration with central data depository system for data transfer and storage management.

  • Explore the feasibility of leveraging on suitable online platforms or apps with a listing of all the hawker centres or stalls (i.e. stall directory) and potential integration with other online services such as food delivery/ordering.

  • Exploring feasibility of implementing Open Digital Platform for hawker centres.

  • Work with cross-functional IT teams in the development and implementation of various digital solutions, employing Agile methodologies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Collaborate with IT vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business requirements while maintaining project velocity.

  • Oversee the development of user stories, manage product backlog, and prioritise features based on business value and technical constraints.

  • Participate in decisions making, ensuring scalability, security, and integration capabilities of implemented solutions.

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for AI adoption to enhance operational efficiency, including but not limited to predictive analytics for crowd management, automated monitoring systems, and AI-powered customer service solutions.

  • Drive AI implementation initiatives and ensure responsible AI practices are followed in alignment with government guidelines

  • Explore adoption and implementation of low-code and no-code platforms to accelerate digital solution development, enabling rapid prototyping and deployment of applications while maintaining governance and security standards.

  • Leveraging low-code/no-code tools to create efficient workflows and automate business processes, reducing technical debt and empowering business users.

  • Adapts readily to evolving business needs whilst maintaining consistent performance standards.
