The Product Policy function sits at the critical intersection of government policy and digital product delivery. It enables tech teams to succeed in a complex public sector environment by:
As a Senior Manager or Manager (Individual Contributor), you will play a key role in shaping policy approaches that enable good technology outcomes. You will work directly with internal product teams and public agencies to identify blockers, develop pragmatic policy strategies, and help align digital products with regulatory, operational, and public interest needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy-Product Integration
Translate policy constraints / intent into actionable guidance for product teams
Help agencies understand how product design choices intersect with public policy goals
Advise on trade-offs between user experience, compliance, and government outcomes
2. Strategic Problem Solving
Identify systemic barriers to effective digital delivery (e.g. outdated policies, fragmented approvals)
Co-develop solutions with internal and external stakeholders that balance compliance with innovation
Use systems thinking and backcasting to assess long-term implications of policy-product decisions
3. Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, legal, and policy teams
Collaborate with public agencies to align on project objectives and delivery conditions
Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences
4. Writing & Communication
Craft memos, policy notes, and communications that frame product issues in clear, policy-aligned terms
Present recommendations to internal leads and external partners with clarity and persuasion
