What the role is
What you will be working on
This role straddles the Singapore Judicial College’s (“SJC”) education arm (the Institute of Judicial Excellence, Judicial Competence (“IJE JC”)) and research arm (the Institute of Judicial Studies (“IJS”)). The IJE JC has the primary responsibility of developing and delivering tailored and robust training programmes to support our Judicial Service Officers to develop and demonstrate the competencies set out in the Judicial Competency Framework (“JCF”). The primary responsibility of the IJS is to undertake, lead and facilitate rigorous multi-method research on a wide range of issues relevant to the Judiciary, including judicial education and training.
The selected candidate will work with the Dean, SJC, Senior Director, IJE JC and Senior Director, IJS to implement the SJC’s education and research priorities and strategic plan. He/she will be expected to:
• Undertake high-quality research on judicial education and the justice system
• Publish research outputs in domestic publications, including in peer-reviewed journals, books and online research engagement and communication platforms
• Supervise research of university students undertaking judicial research modules
• Work with the Curriculum, Pedagogy and Innovation department to support the development of research-led judicial training programmes
• Assist in curating and hosting research events
• Provide support in delivering evidence-based judicial training programmes.
• Assist with training needs analyses and development of curricula and environmental scanning for best practices and pedagogies in judicial education.
• Render assistance on the development of learning resources for judges and judicial officers
• Prepare submissions, reports, presentations, and papers relevant to the work of SJC.

• is a Qualified Person as defined in the Legal Profession Act (Cap 161)
• has proven experience in undertaking legal research
• has excellent written and oral communication skills
• is meticulous with a keen eye for detail and delivers prompt quality performance
• is highly adaptable in a fluid and energetic environment
• is independent but also able to collaborate within a team
• has strong analytical and critical thinking, and good interpersonal skills
• has proficiency in the use of relevant technological skills and tools
• has an interest in education
