What the role is
What you will be working on
You will coordinate and oversee research activities and data management for Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and its surrounding nature parks. This includes reviewing the current research permit decision matrix to ensure its effectiveness and relevance, distilling relevant research topics to operations colleagues, and leading the coordination of the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve big tree resurvey project, working closely with appointed consultants while managing associated administrative requirements. Additionally, you will support ongoing in-house research initiatives, with particular focus on invasive species management programmes and the maintenance and verification of species inventory databases.
You will also get the opportunity to be involved in daily operational work such as tree inspection, trail inspection, maintenance, and management of facilities.
What we are looking for
- Areas of study in Environmental Management, Life Science, Geography, Horticulture, Zoology, or related discipline is preferred
- Advantageous to have basic animal and/or plant identification skills
- Experience with ArcGIS, R, or similar geospatial and data analysis tools are preferred
- Possess good writing, interpersonal and communication skills
- An organized, creative and resourceful team player who is able to work independently
- Enjoy working in an outdoor environment and has a keen interest in nature conservation
