About Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is Singapore’s land use planning and conservation authority. Our mission is to make Singapore a great city to live, work and play. We plan and facilitate the physical development of Singapore, in partnership with agencies and the community, to create a vibrant, sustainable and cosmopolitan city of distinction. URA has undergone a digitalisation journey to harness urban science, geospatial and data analytics, modelling and simulation, and AI technologies in urban planning and design. In 2022, URA was appointed as the Whole-of-Government “Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence” (URBEX) to digitalise and cohere the urban planning and design ecosystem in its use of data, tools and models. The team has received various awards, including the 2024 Public Service Science, Technology and Engineering Conference Excellence Award, 2024 International Special Achievement in GIS Award from ESRI, 2019 Business Transformation Award from PSD, and the 2017 Asia Pacific Regional DX Leader in Talent Acceleration by IDC. About Design and Planning Lab (DPLab) Be part of URA’s DPLab, which spearheads URBEX efforts in the experimentation and development of smart planning technologies through Policy-Ops-Tech collaborations. DPLab is a multi-disciplinary team with capabilities in data policy, governance, strategy, management and engineering, product strategy, business analysis, software engineering, cloud engineering, urban design technologies, 2D/3D geospatial analytics, data science, AI/ML, and modelling and simulation. We collaborate closely with planners, architects and policymakers to develop digital solutions and analytics to provide insights for Singapore’s urban planning challenges.

What you will be working on

We are hiring a Frontend Software Engineer to join our team developing our internal 3D geospatial web application for urban planning analytics, 3D modelling and simulations. You will be developing highly interactive tools and features, working closely with users, UI/UX designers and fellow developers to enhance this application in an agile approach and deliver good system performance and maintainability. Objectives and Responsibilities • Develop new features for a 2D/3D geospatial Web application with interactive components • Translate user requirements in urban planning and design (eg. site simulation) into digital solutions that drive desirable planning outcomes • Integrate cloud and GIS technologies effectively with the Web application using APIs and SDKs in DPLab’s technology stack • Write unit tests and documentation on new features developed; conduct unit testing and refinement • Manage feature development lifecycle from conception to deployment, including timeline planning and resource allocation • Proactive in responding to product feedback, providing timely responses and solutions that address both immediate needs and long-term improvements • Establish / contribute to coding standards and best practices for the team

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field • Interest in application of technologies to enhance urban planning and design, including 2D/3D geospatial analytics and modelling & simulation • Proficiency in Web technologies, Typescript and React • Knowledge of modern frontend architecture patterns and best practices • Strong understanding of software architecture patterns and principles • Strong project management skills and experience in Agile methodology • Passion for creating impactful and intuitive solutions that benefit end-users • Experience with development in cloud infrastructure preferred • Experience in authoring unit/integration tests preferred
