What the role is
The Trade Strategy and Security Division in MTI coordinates and develops Singapore’s trade and international economic relation strategies and policies, to safeguard and expand Singapore’s economic space.
What you will be working on
As a Deputy Director in the Trade Strategy & Security Division in MTI, you will lead a dynamic team of officers, as well as work with inter-agency teams that comprise MTI’s statutory boards and other agencies such as those in the international relations and security domains, to develop Singapore’s responses to geo-economic developments in both the economic and security domains, by:
• Assessing the impact and implications of geo-political developments on Singapore’s economic and security interests;
• Developing strategies, policies, options and responses to expand Singapore’s economic heft or relevance as well as strengthen Singapore’s economic resilience;
• Preparing and executing communications and engagement strategies with key public and private sector stakeholders;
• Organising and representing MTI at various high-level inter-agency platforms related to economic, security, and geo-political portfolios; and
• Collaborating and networking with various internal and external stakeholders.
What we are looking for
• Relevant work experience in the Economy Building (EB) domain or area of international relations
• Excellent analytical, writing, communication, presentation and strategic thinking skills
• Strong stakeholder management skills to engage and influence at various levels
• Ability to work effectively across agency boundaries and divisional lines
• Proven leadership and supervisory track record
• Comfort with economic concepts and data a plus
