Assistant Director, Investment Intermediaries Department (Contract)

Fixed TermsClosed

What the role is

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator.

As central bank, MAS promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis. It manages Singapore’s exchange rate, official foreign reserves, and liquidity in the banking sector.

As an integrated financial supervisor, MAS fosters a sound financial services sector through its prudential oversight of all financial institutions in Singapore – banks, insurers, capital market intermediaries, financial advisors, and stock exchanges. It is also responsible for well-functioning financial markets, sound conduct, and investor education.

MAS also works with the financial industry to promote Singapore as a dynamic international financial centre. It facilitates the development of infrastructure, adoption of technology, and upgrading of skills in the financial industry.

Join us now, if you have a genuine interest in making an impact to help shape Singapore’s economic and financial landscape.

What you will be working on

You will be part of a team responsible for inspecting and conducting visits to investment intermediaries such as fund managers, REIT managers, trust companies and securities crowdfunding companies. This will encompass thematic and firm-specific reviews of their policies, processes and controls. Together with other colleagues, you will be expected to plan and execute these engagements to ensure effective coverage of relevant processes within the requisite timeline.

Through these engagements, you will develop a broader appreciation of key risk management practices across different entity types and business models. This will enable you to contribute to broader thematic or industry analyses that are required by the Department.

In the course of your work, you may also be asked to contribute to our supervisory work and this would involve handling firm-specific queries or issues that relate to our existing requirements, rules and regulations for the investment management industry.

What we are looking for

  • Prior working experience in leading on-site audit engagements requiring control testing preferred.

  • Good working knowledge of funds and/or asset management a plus.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good analytical skills and the ability to work at both the conceptual and operational levels.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.

This is a 1-year contract. All applicants will be notified on whether they are shortlisted or not within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.

About your application process

If you do not hear from us within 4 weeks of the job ad closing date, we seek your understanding that it is likely that we are not moving forward with your application for this role. We thank you for your interest and would like to assure you that this does not affect your other job applications with the Public Service. We encourage you to explore and apply for other roles within Monetary Authority of Singapore or the wider Public Service.
