The role of a Lecturer at the School of Life Skills & Communication is both challenging and rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both youth and adult learners. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum and hone administrative skills related to teaching, and contribute to driving School/Institutional strategic initiatives. Successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful, innovative, and possess strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate data effectively.

The appointee must be competent to teach skills/modules in the Common Core Curriculum of the School (https://www.sp.edu.sg/sp/education/common-core-curriculum) that include:
• Digital Communication and Collaboration
• Data Storytelling
• Persuasive Communication (written and oral)
• Personal Branding
• Critical Thinking
• Effective Interpersonal Communication
• Emotional and Cultural Intelligence

What you will be working on

Responsibilities:-

  • Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for both Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education & Training (CET) students (youths and adult learners)

  • Develop and maintain new/existing teaching curriculum and ensure industry relevancy

  • Collaborate with external partners and SP schools/departments to coordinate and deliver modules effectively

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of unique institutional programmes and initiatives

  • Assist module teams in supporting teaching staff and handling module-related administrative tasks

  • Support LSC’s industry partnership efforts

  • Optional: Design and teach curriculum related to the care economy, including but not limited to coaching and mentoring, stakeholder management, community care, workplace wellness, and supporting diverse learner needs within the care sector

What we are looking for

Requirements:-

  • Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring both youths and adult learners

  • Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment

  • People-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written and communication skills

  • Enjoy new challenges and executing projects

  • Relevant qualification in the field of English Language/Applied Linguistics/Mass Communication/Communication Studies/Arts and Social Sciences

  • Candidates who possess experience in teaching at tertiary level or corporate training will have an added advantage

  • Proficient in the use of social media and digital tools for teaching and experience in data visualisation and/or communicating with data would be desirable

  • Experience or qualifications in curriculum related to the care economy, such as coaching and mentoring, stakeholder management, community care and workplace wellness, will be considered an advantage

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
