What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer, Radio Production in the School of Film & Media Studies.

What you will be working on

A full-time teaching position responsible for delivering high-quality education in radio production, broadcasting, and audio content creation to diploma students and adult learners.

  • Design and deliver engaging curriculum content for radio production modules, including practical workshops, theoretical concepts, and industry-relevant projects that align with polytechnic standards and industry requirements

  • Provide hands-on training in radio studio operations, audio editing software, broadcast equipment, and production techniques while maintaining industry-standard broadcasting practices

  • Assess and evaluate student performance through various methods including practical assignments, written examinations, and project work, providing constructive feedback for improvement

  • Mentor students in radio production projects, including live broadcasts, podcast creation, and audio documentary production while fostering creativity and professional standards

  • Maintain strong industry connections and incorporate current trends and technologies in radio broadcasting into the curriculum to ensure relevance

  • Support in student development and pastoral care

  • Academic admin and committee work which supports the activities in a functional committee assigned by the School, such as timetabling, academic quality, student development, facilities management, overseas programme etc.

What we are looking for

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in radio broadcasting or production

OR

  • Minimum 8-10 years of substantial industry experience in radio broadcasting, production, or related media industry

  • Demonstrated expertise through career progression and industry recognition

  • Industry certifications or professional qualifications in broadcasting/audio production

  • Portfolio of professional work demonstrating mastery of radio production techniques

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

  • Demonstrated expertise in audio production software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools) and broadcast equipment

  • Strong understanding of digital audio broadcasting, podcast production, and emerging audio technologies

  • Proficient in radio production techniques including recording, editing, mixing, and mastering

  • Experience with radio automation systems and broadcast scheduling software

  • Knowledge of audio streaming platforms and digital distribution channels

  • Familiarity with media laws, broadcasting standards, and copyright regulations

  • Competent in using various microphones, audio interfaces, and broadcasting equipment

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Adaptable to changing technology and industry requirements

  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively with all stakeholders
