What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as a Lecturer, Content Creation in the School of Film & Media Studies.

What you will be working on

A dynamic teaching position responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive education in digital content creation, incorporating multi-disciplinary skills across media, technology, and business domains. The role involves teaching both diploma students and adult learners under Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes.

Teaching and Development

Design and deliver curriculum covering multiple aspects of digital content creation including:

  • Video production and editing

  • Social media content strategy

  • Digital storytelling and narrative design

  • Content marketing and analytics

  • UI/UX principles for content

  • Digital business models and monetisation

  • Develop and conduct CET courses for working professionals and career switchers

  • Integrate industry-relevant projects that combine technical skills with business strategy

  • Mentor students in developing professional portfolios and industry-ready skills

  • Teach both full-time students and working professionals (flexible hours when required)

  • Support in student development and pastoral care

  • Academic Admin and committee work which supports the activities in a functional committee assigned by the School, such as timetabling, academic quality, student development, facilities management, overseas programmes etc.

Industry Integration

  • Maintain strong connections with industry partners across digital media sectors

  • Organise industry visits and guest speaker sessions

  • Facilitate industry projects and collaborations

  • Keep curriculum updated with emerging trends and technologies

What we are looking for

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Communications, Interactive Media, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in digital content creation

OR

  • Minimum 8 years of substantial industry experience in digital content creation and strategy

  • Proven track record of successful digital projects and campaigns

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple digital platforms and content formats

  • Strong portfolio showing diverse content creation abilities

  • Advanced video production and editing

  • Graphic design and visual communication

  • Social media content optimization

  • Content management systems

  • SEO and digital marketing

  • Basic web development

  • Analytics and data interpretation

  • Strong multi-disciplinary thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

  • Adaptable teaching style for different learner groups

  • Passion for emerging technologies and digital trends

  • Strong project management and organisational skills

  • Patient and empathetic approach to adult learning
