Key pillar of Digital Experience Product Management team to craft usable, inclusive and data validated experiences for the National Library Board’s web and mobile products. You will pair closely with Product, Engineering and Content teams to translate research into elegant flows that serve everyone from young readers to senior patrons while advancing NLB’s goals. A core part of the job is to advocate for UX across NLB and help grow an internal community of practice.

What you will be working on

  • Shape end to end interaction design for NLB Mobile and other digital products: discovery, wireframes, prototypes, final visuals.
  • Plan and run user research and usability tests across diverse patron segments; turn insights into concrete design decisions.
  • Translate findings into personas, journey maps, information architecture and iterative prototypes; validate with stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Managers to define problem statements, test hypotheses and achieve product market fit.
  • Evangelise UX within NLB: present findings to executives, contribute to standards and influence policy and tooling choices.
  • Coach and mentor new UX hires and junior designers; facilitate design thinking workshops to embed a user centric culture.
  • Build and maintain a component based design system consistent with NLB branding and accessibility standards.
  • Define and track UX metrics such as task success and funnel drop off; propose improvements post release.
  • Contribute to the development of a company wide UX strategy; articulate how design supports NLB’s current and future digital programmes.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum three years’ hands on interaction design for shipped mobile and web products, demonstrated in a strong portfolio.
  • Proven user research capability: interviews, surveys, usability tests, synthesis techniques.
  • Comfortable setting and analysing UX metrics via GA4, Mixpanel or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Figma (or similar) for wireframing and prototyping; basic front end understanding (HTML / CSS / Flutter widgets).
  • Experience mentoring designers or leading design thinking sessions; evidence of growing UX capability in previous roles.
  • Track record of advocating UX to non design stakeholders and influencing product or organisational decisions.
  • Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and designing for broad age ranges.
  • Exposure to agile delivery and cross functional squads.
  • Ability to craft and communicate an organisation wide UX strategy is an advantage.

Work location will be at the Marine Parade Public Library. As the library is currently closed for renovation, the current work location is at the National Library Building.

Successful applicant will be appointed on an initial two-year contract.
