Senior Pre-school Education Officer - Innovative Pedagogical Practices

What the role is

As a Senior Pre-school Education Officer at Pre-school Education Branch in Schools Division, you will be part of a team that drives efforts to raise the quality of pre-school education in Singapore. You will work closely with MOE Kindergarten (MK) educators, lower primary school educators, personnel from relevant MOE Headquarters (HQ) divisions, and various stakeholders in the pre-school sector to support curriculum and programme innovation, professional development, and the sharing of effective teaching practices. Your role involves championing forward-thinking, evidence-based pedagogies, supporting the design and implementation of innovative practices, and helping educators strengthen their professional practice. Through your contributions, you will help foster creativity, critical thinking, and quality learning experiences for young children.

What you will be working on

1. Strengthen Curriculum and Teaching Practice ⦁ Lead the development of curriculum frameworks, teaching guides, and learning resources while guiding MKs in implementing innovative pedagogies and digital tools in daily classroom practice ⦁ Monitor curriculum implementation effectiveness across contexts, recommend adaptations to align with educational goals, and guide lower primary school educators in smoothening pre-school to primary school transition 2. Build Educator Capacity and Foster a Culture of Innovation ⦁ Design and facilitate professional development programmes through workshops, learning communities, and coaching to enhance MK and lower primary educators' capabilities ⦁ Collaborate with HQ divisions and sector partners to promote continuous improvement through curating and sharing effective teaching practices and pedagogical innovations 3. Lead Research and Strategic Projects • Initiate, lead and manage preschool-related projects that advance curriculum design, instructional improvement, and pedagogical innovation. • Contribute to and support research and evaluation efforts to assess the effectiveness of initiatives, translating insights into actionable improvements.

What we are looking for

Qualification • Degree in Early Childhood Education, General Education, Child Development, or a related field. • Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/General Education, Curriculum and Teaching, or Educational Leadership) will be an advantage. • Candidates with professional certification or specialised training in areas such as leadership, curriculum design, coaching, or educational innovation will be favourably considered. Experience • At least 5 years of experience in leadership role within the preschool or education sector, demonstrating: - Classroom teaching and pedagogical leadership with proven track record in innovative teaching practices - Experience in curriculum development and professional learning facilitation to support educator development - Ability to work with cross-functional teams or stakeholders to drive centre- or system-level improvement Skills and Competencies ⦁ Strong understanding of early childhood pedagogy, the Nurturing Early Learners Framework and curriculum design, complemented by excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills ⦁ Demonstrated facilitation, coaching, and mentoring capabilities with ability to work both independently and collaboratively ⦁ Skilled at managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment In general, applicants can expect to hear from us within 3 weeks of the close of the application window.
