What the role is
The VC Secretariat will support the VC for its secretariat and operational functions, including managing registration, accreditation, and disciplinary processes. Thus, it will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the VC in fulfilling its responsibilities.
What you will be working on
You will be part of the VC Secretariat under the Professional and Scientific Services (PSS) Division of NParks. As a member of the Secretariat’s Accreditation and Standards team, you will play a key role in supporting the VC in maintaining high standards in veterinary practice.
Your scope of work includes:
- Drafting and reviewing various legal documents for the VC, including subsidiary legislation to support the main Veterinary Practice Act
- Developing, overseeing and implementing a formal accreditation scheme for the training/assessment of prospective veterinary professionals
- Developing, reviewing and administering requirements for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) and Codes for veterinary professionals
- Organising meetings and managing stakeholders effectively, which includes setting realistic expectations and clarifying roles of all involved parties, managing conflicts, and maintaining appropriate levels of communication
- Providing support to the VC and related committees during disciplinary proceedings
What we are looking for
- Areas of study in Veterinary Science, Biological Sciences or relevant subject area is preferred
- Experience in veterinary practice or equivalent experience in relevant fields
- Experience in Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Education Administration or a related field would be advantageous
- A highly motivated individual with good communication, problem-solving, time management and organisational skills
- Good IT skills e.g. sound applied knowledge of Microsoft Office
