What the role is
What you will be working on
We are looking for a forward-thinking and experienced Deputy Director to lead the Bus Assets (BA) Division in shaping the future of Singapore’s public bus fleet. You will oversee strategic planning, procurement, maintenance, and compliance efforts to ensure our assets remains safe, reliable, and sustainable.
In this leadership role, you will guide multi-disciplinary teams of 25 engineers and technical officers across five functional areas—Bus Procurement, Bus Improvement, Bus Technology & Projects, Maintenance Planning, and Audit & Compliance—and drive key initiatives to support national public transport goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead long-term asset planning for bus procurement, renewal, and improvement to meet operational and sustainability needs.
- Oversee division operations, ensuring alignment across planning, technology, compliance, and engineering efforts.
- Drive innovation and trials involving electric and cleaner energy buses, advanced maintenance systems, and new bus platforms.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and safety, including incident investigations and audit oversight.
- Engage stakeholders and industry partners, including Public Transport Operators and vendors, to drive collaborative outcomes.
- Manage business continuity and knowledge governance, ensuring the division is future-ready and resilient.
What we are looking for
- Trained in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience, including leadership roles in transport, automotive, or asset-intensive industries.
- Strong understanding of bus systems, maintenance planning, procurement, and emerging technologies.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with electric or hybrid vehicles and ISO 55001 (or similar asset management standards) is an advantage.
- Meticulous with an eye for details and strong situational awareness.
- Quick to adapt to new situations and changes.
