What the role is

You lead a team of cognitive scientists in conducting research and developing analysis methodologies to enhance understanding of the information environment.

What you will be working on

- Lead comprehensive research on cognitive processes, decision-making, perception and human psychology - Analyse data from various sources, including social media, surveys and experimental studies to identify trends and derive insights - Develop and validate frameworks and models to analyse the impact of information on audiences - Formulate and test hypotheses related to cognitive responses to information activities, using psychological assessments and metrics - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement strategies that leverage cognitive principles for effective information dissemination - Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management - Oversee the conduct of training and workshops for team members on cognitive science principles, and their applications in information activities Challenge(s) - Breaking new ground in emerging field - Adapting to rapidly evolving environments - Synthesising complex findings for diverse audiences - Leading teams with varying expertise levels

What we are looking for

- Education in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human Factors, Neuroscience, or a relevant field, Ph.D. is preferred - At least 15 years of working experience - Research experience in the fields of behavioural psychology, cognitive science and relevant social sciences is advantageous - Familiarity with data analysis software and tools, such as Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), R or Python language, for effective data interpretation - Strong leadership ability - Good analytical and writing skills - Good awareness of Singapore's political, defence and security developments, as well as current affairs - Acute awareness of the regional and international media environment, and how it influences public perception of MINDEF/SAF is beneficial - An understanding of military operations, including the unique challenges and requirements faced in defence-related contexts is advantageous Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
