What the role is

The National Security Coordination Secretariat’s mission is to build a shared picture of cross-cutting national security risks, and mobilise the multi-agency effort needed to mitigate risks. We work to secure Singapore against risks in any domain that could compromise Singapore’s survival and success. This includes vulnerabilities to disruptions to day-to-day life, social divisions, and coercion to act against our national interest. Such risks impact multiple sectors and require multi-sector responses to effectively mitigate risks to Singapore.

What you will be working on

• Perform in-depth analysis on quantitative and survey data, and from a variety of sources (e.g. open-source, media reports) to support sensemaking on risks to national security. This includes:  Using various machine-learning techniques to create predictive models that help to forecast national security risks.  Utilising large language models for language-related analysis. • Design, implement and manage Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) processes to maintain internal databases. • Distil findings into reports for key stakeholders including senior management of national security agencies. • Monitor current events and trends to proactively identify risks to national security. • Ensure adherence and compliance with data governance guidelines.

What we are looking for

• At least 2 years’ experience in data analysis, research or related field • Possess statistical knowledge and proficiency in quantitative modelling • Proficient in Python or R (Python is preferred) • Good writing skills to deliver analyses synthesising information from multiple domains, including data-driven outputs • Intellectual curiosity, and clear logical thinking • Interest in current affairs • Able to work in a dynamic environment and pick up new skills/ domain knowledge if necessary • Proactive, purpose-driven, persistent, and patient We may refer you as a potential candidate for vacancies in other agencies we assessed you to be suitable for.
