As an Assistant Engineer in the Catchment and Waterways Department’s Catchment Surveillance Unit, you will be part of a team responsible to plan and manage surveillance and enforcement works, related to pollutive discharges, illegal fishing and illegal abstraction of raw water, at reservoirs, catchment and waterways.

What the role is
What you will be working on
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Plan and manage scheduled inspections of (i) illegal fishing hotspots at reservoirs and waterways and (ii) premises that could discharge pollutive runoffs into waterways and canals
• Conduct patrols and stakeouts at (i) illegal fishing hotspots at reservoirs and waterways and (ii) premises that could discharge pollutive runoffs into waterways and canals
• Conduct source-tracing within water catchment to identify illegal / pollutive dischargers
• Investigate illegal / pollutive discharge by personnel or entity to reservoirs, catchment and waterways, and gather evidence before putting up investigation report with recommended enforcement action
• Investigate illegal fishing or illegal raw water abstraction cases, and gather evidence before putting up investigation report with recommended enforcement action
• Manage / administer contracts and projects related to surveillance and monitoring works
• Implement trials/test-bedding of technologies to enhance surveillance and monitoring works at reservoirs, catchment and waterways
What we are looking for
• Diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Preferably with at least 5 years of experience in surveillance and enforcement works
• Independent, result-oriented and self-driven team player with good communication and project management skills
• Meticulous, proactive and resourceful
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
