About Design and Planning Lab (DPLab) Be part of URA’s DPLab, which spearheads URBEX efforts in the research and development of smart urban planning and design technologies through Policy-Ops-Tech collaborations. DPLab is a multi-disciplinary team with capabilities in data policy, governance, strategy, management and engineering, product strategy, business analysis, software engineering, cloud engineering, urban design technologies, 2D/3D geospatial analytics, data science, AI/ML, and modelling and simulation. We collaborate closely with planners, architects and policymakers to develop digital solutions and analytics to provide insights for Singapore’s urban planning challenges.

We are seeking an Architect (Computational Designer) to join our team in developing 3D procedural modeling and multi-objective optimisation scripts. These will contribute to an integrated modeling and simulation ecosystem within ePlanner, our 2D/3D geospatial web application that is developed in-house and currently used by more than 1600 officers across 40 agencies. Objectives and Responsibilities • Conduct analytics and explorations on urban developments and building typologies, and develop methodologies for 3D urban scenario generation • Design procedural modelling algorithms to enable the quick generation and evaluation of 3D urban scenarios • Engage planning and policy groups to gather requirements, develop workflows, design and implement training to transform planning and urban design practice • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and deploy procedural modelling and multi-objective optimisation tools on ePlanner • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in computational techniques, and provide advice on best solutions available

• Master’s degree in architecture, computer graphics or a related field • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, C# and Visual Basic (VB). • Proficiency in 3D computer-aided design and procedural generation software such as Rhinoceros 3D, Grasshopper 3D, City Engine, Maya or Houdini. • Strong understanding of procedural generation techniques and algorithms. • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Effective presentation, communication, and writing skills • Able to work well with a team and is a self-starter • Possession of relevant ESRI Certifications would be advantageous • Domain knowledge in urban planning & design sector would provide an advantage • Interest and passion in applying geospatial technologies to enhance urban planning and design
