What the role is

The incumbent will help to plan, develop and execute proactive and defensive strategies to drive public communications efforts for MOM's policies and programmes to build the local workforce and a complementary foreign workforce, as well as publicising MOM’s labour market reports. This includes developing public communications strategy, organising and developing materials for media engagements and events, identifying and correcting online misinformation, as well as identifying and cultivating good relationships with media.

What you will be working on

• Develop narratives and execute media communications and engagement plans to proactively raise awareness and understanding, and pre-empt misperceptions on MOM's policies, programmes and regulatory operations. • The responsibilities include: o Media Communications: Review and develop media communications plans and key messages on MOM’s policies to support MOM political office holders, senior management and divisions. This includes overseeing communications for MOM divisions, Statutory Boards and affiliated bodies to ensure alignment with MOM’s communications priorities. o Media Relations: Managing media pitches and negotiation, media cultivation, drafting media releases and replies to media queries and forum letters, staffing POHs for media events, on-site media management, formulating media material for announcements, red-teaming for possible derailers to communications, crafting talking points and analysing media coverage.

What we are looking for

• Minimum 6 years' experience in the public sector and/or public communications work • Well versed in media communications, media relations and/or marketing and digital communications • Good interpersonal skills; ability to identify focus areas, interpret data, influence, negotiate and implement public communications strategies / tactics • Mature and have a keen interest in current affairs • Possess strong written and spoken communications skills • Good project management skills with ability to multi-task and deliver good outcomes under pressure and fast-changing conditions • Committed and energetic team player • Resourceful and able to respond quickly and effectively to dynamic and sensitive situations
