What the role is

HDB houses more than 80% of Singapore’s resident population spread across 24 towns and 3 estates, and is continually leveraging Information & Communication Technology (ICT) to make its towns and estates more liveable, efficient, sustainable and safe for its residents. In line with this proliferation in use of ICT, more data of the urban environment is being collected. You will be involved in a multi-disciplinary area of analytical research to derive actionable insights amidst vast amounts of data to shape a HDB town’s development. You will look into utilising multiple emerging forms of data, combined with new and multi-faceted computational approaches and data analytics methodologies (e.g. machine learning, geospatial techniques, statistical regression, predictive analytics, social science analytics) to derive evidence-based findings to better understand the various phenomena of the urban environment, including establishing how some of these phenomena may be influenced and affected by societal behaviours, interactions or other forms of social science theories.

What you will be working on

Your responsibilities will include data acquisition and data fusion, driving the application of 3D building models, and exploring the use of new techniques and algorithms in analysing the urban environment of HDB towns and estates. You will also work closely with stakeholders to scope and undertake analytical use cases to work towards transformation of data into valuable knowledge and actionable insights that can be used to streamline processes or formulate solutions, particularly in the domains of sustainability and health & well-being. You will also be involved in developing and deploying AI models / dashboards to engage and deliver value to stakeholders.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who possess strong analytical skills, good problem-solving aptitude and is independent. The candidate should be trained in data or urban analytics and the following skillsets / background or similar training is required: • Data Science • Business Analytics • Computer Science • Applied Mathematics / Statistics You should have at least 2 years of relevant hands-on experience and be proficient in coding/scripting in various programming languages, such as Python/R, and data visualisation/storytelling techniques. Having a background in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) and additional proficiencies in 3D modelling, spatial analysis, machine learning, Generative AI and social science would be preferred. Candidate must also be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams, and also have excellent communication and written skills. Successful candidates will be offered a 2-year contract as a start.
