What the role is

This is a critical role in ensuring funded programs are aligned with WOG and Skills & Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) funding policies and support SWDA initiatives. The Manager/Senior Manager is an individual contributor responsible for strengthening grants policies and governance within the organisation and at WOG level and engaging stakeholders to ensure compliance and enforceability. The role requires a proactive approach to risk assessment, regular stakeholder engagement, and reasoned judgment in evaluating deviation requests, while safeguarding SWDA’s interests and supporting overall objectives.
The Senior Manager level will be expected to handle work of greater complexity and manage additional projects.

What you will be working on

The Manager/Senior Manager is an individual contributor role who reports to the Team Leader and is part of a team responsible for ensuring funded programmes are aligned with SSG’s funding policies and support SkillsFuture initiatives and SSG’s overall objectives.

The Senior Manager level will be expected to handle work of greater complexity and manage additional projects.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements for compliance with WOG’s and SWDA’s grants policies
  • Apply prevailing policies, laws, and regulations relevant to grants

Policy Strengthening:

  • Collaborate with SWDA divisions and other government agencies to strengthen grants policies and governance
  • Articulate policy goals in light of national interest and provide sound policy recommendations

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work with SWDA Divisions and other government agencies to monitor implementation and ensure alignment with policy intent

Risk Assessment:

  • Assess requests for deviation from WOG grants governance framework
  • Provide advice on governance, risk management strategies, and potential risk areas

What we are looking for

  • Manager: Up to 6 years of relevant work experience in grants policies, governance and risk management.  Those with no relevant experience but have been involved in relevant projects, short stints in similar areas / functions or relevant course of study can apply
  • Senior Manager: At least 6 years of relevant work experience in grant policies, governance and risk management
  • Good project management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Good understanding of funding policies and concepts are preferred, but not necessary
  • Familiarity with governance issues, risk management, and compliance matters are preferred, but not necessary
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented, meticulous, and systematic
  • Independent and self-motivated, enjoys variety and new challenges, and able to work well in a team
     

Successful candidates will be offered a 1-year contract with potential for a 1-year extension and consideration for permanent tenure thereafter.
