Project title: Understanding the Changing Nature of Work and Worker Aspirations
Technological change, economic headwinds, and evolving worker aspirations are fundamentally changing workplace norms and the employer-employee relationship. For example, developments in generative AI are likely to disrupt existing jobs and new work-life expectations are changing perceptions of what constitutes a good workplace.
We hope to better understand these shifts and their implications to our labour compact, to make workplace laws and policies that strike the right balance between worker needs and productive business outcomes.

What the role is
What you will be working on
1. Research how other countries are responding to emerging technological trends, and the impact this has had on the workplace. For example, are countries introducing laws regulating the use of generative AI to replace job responsibilities?
2. Research how workers’ aspirations (e.g. for greater work-life harmony) are changing and taking root in different countries, and how policymakers are responding to these calls. For example, what has been the impact of “right-to-disconnect” laws on both workers and employers?
3. Support the planning and execution of tripartite meetings, which include liaising with key stakeholders (e.g. employers, unions, government agencies) and preparing materials to seek tripartite partners’ buy-in
What we are looking for
1. Ability to conduct research using a mix of primary and secondary materials
2. Ability to analyse international trends, especially those pertaining to changes in the labour force
