What the role is

The Resilience and Engagement Division (RED) helps build a strong society by fostering a sense of solidarity and commitment to Singapore. We do this through three pillars of work: fostering a strong and inclusive sense of national identity; helping newcomers integrate into Singapore and appreciate what it means to be part of Singapore; and promoting a culture of volunteerism and philanthropy. You will be part of our team that reviews and formulates policies, strategies and plans to strengthen social cohesion and solidarity and commitment to contribute to the common good. Our work focuses not only on Singaporeans, but also supporting the integration of newcomers into Singapore society.

What you will be working on

Our team designs and implements sense-making mechanisms (e.g. surveys, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, data analytics) to assess the state of national identity, cohesion and solidarity in Singapore. This informs our strategies and programming. Our team engages a wide range of stakeholders – government agencies, community partners and citizens – to design, implement and evaluate these programmes and initiatives. Your role would include the following functions: • Strategic Planning & Coordination: Strategic planning and co-ordination of whole-of-government platforms (National Education Committee, National Integration Council) that drive the agenda on national identity and social cohesion. • Policy: Reviewing existing and recommending new policies, programmes and initiatives on social cohesion and solidarity. • Research: Implementing sense-making mechanisms (e.g. surveys, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, geospatial analysis, data analytics) to collect data on the state of identity and integration, and make informed recommendations for programmes and initiatives to strengthen national identity and integration. • Programmes & Engagement: Working with other government and non-government agencies and partners to implement policies and develop programmes that strengthen national identity and social cohesion. This includes designing approaches to involve and engage citizens in the development process.
