What the role is

The Data Innovation and Protection Group is at the frontier of advancing Singapore’s artificial intelligence (AI) and data innovation aspirations through the responsible use of data and AI.

As Architects of Singapore’s Digital Future, our ambition is to establish Singapore as a trusted data hub by laying the strong foundation for organisations to harness the power of AI and data. We achieve this by putting in place strong data governance, empowering a community of data advocates and anchoring Singapore as a global leader in the development and use of trustworthy AI and data tech.

Within our Group, the Ecosystem Development & Engagement Division creates the conditions for our success. We manage partnerships, run programmes, drive advocacy and outreach efforts, and develop products and solutions for public use so as to build awareness, shape behaviour, and create capacity for effective data protection and innovation.

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Products and Standards, this role will be responsible for developing and improving our products and platforms to facilitate effective data use and protection. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to build solutions for users at scale, with a robust problem-solving skillset and strong interest in data protection and innovation.

What you will be working on

  • As part of a team, develop and improve a set of products and standards which help individuals and organizations to understand and implement best practices for data protection and innovative data use
  • Assessing unserved and underserved needs in the data protection ecosystem and identifying innovative solutions to help address them
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle for PDPC’s industry-facing products (e.g. tools, e-learning, registries) from discovery to operations, shape solution design (high-level architecture, data models and integrations), and make infrastructure calls (hosting, databases, security).
  • Manage both inhouse delivery (leveraging IMDA’s tech stack) and partner-led delivery (with IMDA’s Digital Transformation Office, GovTech product teams, vendors) to achieve faster time-to-market.
  • Supporting Singapore's contributions to international standards and best practices which promote data protection and good governance, and create the conditions for innovative data use.

What we are looking for

  • 5 years relevant work experience in one or more of the following disciplines: product management, data science, data governance, tech solution consulting
  • Deep familiarity with how data is used by companies
  • Self-starter, with a track record of independently managing concurrent projects to delivery
  • Ability to translate user needs into product requirements, define clear success metrics, and track delivery and performance
  • Technical fluency: able to shape how a product is put together (front end, back end, APIs), make sensible hosting and data-storage choices, and weigh integration, performance, security/privacy, and accessibility trade-offs.
