What the role is

Officer will be responsible for processing licence applications for food shops, food stalls, supermarkets and temporary fairs to ensure that these establishments meet SFA’s pre-licensing requirements before they commence operations, to assure food safety. This includes conducting pre-licensing checks on the premises to verify that the layout and set up are in accordance with requirements before recommending issuance of the appropriate SFA licence type when all requirements are met.

What you will be working on

Duties
• Process licence applications, which include checking layout plans of the premises and land agency’s approvals, as well as imposing suitable and appropriate licensing conditions.
• Conduct pre-licensing checks on the premises to ensure compliance with the prelicensing requirements.
• Attend to public queries on licensing-related matters.
• Prepare and implement revised / new licensing regime / initiatives


Requirements
• Knowledge in HACCP or Food Safety Management System will have an added advantage
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially in Microsoft Excel
• Highly independent, organised, self-motivated, meticulous, and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
