Legal Counsel

What the role is
What you will be working on
In this role, you will:
• Render advice and provide comprehensive and practical solutions on a wide range of issues, ranging from contract law, intellectual property law, corporate governance, criminal law, employment law, family law, regulatory matters under CPF legislation.
• You will be involved in the prosecution of various statutory offences under the Central Provident Fund Act (preparing and conducting mentions, pre-trial conferences and trials) and handle legal issues relating to enforcement and investigations.
• Be involved in the legal groundwork for key policy changes, analyse new policies, advise on the required legislation changes and draft/propose the legislation amendments; liaise with the Attorney-General’s Chambers on legislation changes.
• Draft, vet and provide legal advice on a range of contracts, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), terms & conditions and other documents, including those related to goods and services, IT, construction, investments, real estate, non-disclosure agreements, etc.
• Conduct educational legal talks and support innovative legal projects.
What we are looking for
We value the diverse talents and experiences that each individual brings to the table. While mastery of every requirement may not be necessary, familiarity and expertise in some of the following areas will position you for success within this team.
• Trained in Law and qualified under the Legal Profession Act.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to write clearly and reason compellingly.
• Strong ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Prosecution experience preferred. Strong candidates without prosecution experience will also be considered, as the relevant training will be provided.
The seniority of appointment and actual corporate job title will commensurate with individual work experiences.
Position is on a 2-year full time contract directly under the payroll of CPF Board with potential for emplacement into permanent position.
