What the role is
As a Data Engineer within Data Office, you will lead the design and implementation of critical data infrastructure and analytics solutions to support policy formulation, corporate operations, and data governance initiatives. Working closely with corporate and policy divisions, you will drive the development of our centralised data analytics platform, enabling efficient data access, analytics, and governance capabilities across MDDI.
What you will be working on
- Lead efforts to integrate disparate data sources and systems into a centralized data analytics platform, enabling efficient data access and analysis.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data analytics requirements for policy formulation, corporate operations, and data governance.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes tailored to the unique needs of MDDI divisions.
- Implement and optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms using cloud-based data warehousing solutions, ensuring compliance with government data security and privacy regulations.
- Establish and enforce data governance standards and best practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the organization.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams on data engineering best practices, cloud architecture, and data governance.
- Build data connections and integrations to analytics tools such as Tableau, ensuring seamless data access and visualisation capabilities for the organisation.
What we are looking for
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering roles, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for designing and implementing ETL processes and data pipelines.
- Proficiency in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with a strong understanding of government data security and privacy requirements.
- Extensive experience with data warehousing technologies, particularly Databricks and Snowflake, in the context of data analytics and data management.
- Experience in building data connections and integrations to analytics tools such as Tableau.
- Knowledge of data governance principles and regulations governing government data management and privacy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering practical, scalable data solutions to meet divisions’ analytics needs.
- Optional: Experience in cloud architecture design and implementation
