What the role is
What you will be working on
The Horticulture Officer will support the Horticulture Manager in preserving and maintaining historic landscapes and themed plant collections within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The officer will coordinate and supervise horticulture contractors, including work scheduling and staff deployment. The officer will oversee daily maintenance of plants, including watering, pruning, and pest management, as well as conduct plant propagation of significant specimens to ensure collection sustainability. The position requires maintaining detailed documentation of horticultural activities, plant records, and maintenance schedules, along with monitoring and ensuring compliance with established horticultural standards and practices. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preserving the site's historic and botanical significance whilst ensuring its ongoing development and maintenance meet world-class standards.
What we are looking for
-Areas of study in Horticulture, Botany, Taxonomy or related field from a recognized tertiary institution or equivalent
- Experience in plant cultivation and landscape maintenance would be preferred
- A hands-on person, enjoys outdoor work and a willingness to learn
- Able to communicate effectively and a team player
