What the role is

Science Centre Singapore seeks to promote interest, learning and creativity in science and technology through imaginative and enjoyable experiences, contributing to Singapore's human resource development.

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our senior team as Senior Director, Engagement, overseeing strategic planning, partnerships, marketing & communications, and placemaking.

What you will be working on

Reporting to the Chief Executive, SD, Engagement will lead and drive the organisation’s strategic planning, brand positioning, external partnerships, marketing and communications, and placemaking. This role is crucial in bringing in visitors to Science Centre Singapore, increasing the public’s mindshare of what we offer, and strengthening stakeholder engagement and fostering community connections through effective placemaking initiatives. This position is supported by a few Heads of Department and their team members in the various portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Planning & Transformation
• Spearhead organisation-wide strategic planning and various transformation initiatives to enhance organisational outcomes and to stay at the forefront.
• Translate long-term vision and mission into actionable strategic roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements across various portfolios.
• Monitor and evaluate strategic outcomes, adjusting approaches as needed.


2. Marketing & Communications
• Lead and stay ahead in brand positioning and reputation management,
• Using data and analytics, drive brand strategy, integrated marketing campaigns, and content development.
• Oversee corporate communications, media relations, digital presence, and crisis communication.


3. Partnerships and Stakeholder Management
• Lead in partnership engagement framework and governance structure.
• Lead in and work with various departments to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector entities, and community organisations.
• Develop and seek new partnerships and sponsorships to achieve “win-win” outcomes.
• Navigate complex stakeholder relationships and drive collaborative initiatives.
• Lead negotiations for high-value partnerships and agreements.


4. Community Engagement & Placemaking
• Guide placemaking strategies to foster vibrant, sustainable community spaces and programmes.
• Guide the implementation of regular thematic outdoor exhibitions to attract visitors and enhance visitor experience
• Drive initiatives that enhance community engagement.

What we are looking for

Tertiary education (Masters/Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field) or equivalent, with at least 12 years of senior leadership experience in marketing and communications, strategic planning, organisational development, stakeholder engagement, external relations, or related functions. Proven track record in integrated marketing, partnership development and community engagement. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and manage change. Candidates with experience in both public and private sectors will be an advantage.
