What the role is

The Agri-Food Facilitation Department (Offtake and Marketing Section) drives industry development of the farms sector through facilitating business development, programmes and capability building initiatives to transform and drive the growth of Singapore’s farming industries.

What you will be working on

Candidate’s key job roles include:

Facilitating business development opportunities for farms, to drive the growth of Singapore’s farming sector, in support of our overall food security strategies. This comprises:

Developing strategies and initiatives to encourage demand offtake of local produce from major offtakers including the HORECA, Food Manufacturers and Retail segments. Organising and participating in international events to profile Singapore as a thought leader in urban food solutions.

Partnering industry associations covering the HORECA, Food Manufacturers segments, comprising:

Functioning as the key point of contact in SFA for information sharing, market intelligence, engagement, feedback and coordination on regulatory matters. Identifying, establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including other government agencies, institutions of higher learning, research institutions and industry partners to develop solutions for business upgrading and growth Disseminating information on industry trends and relevant support schemes to farms through engagement sessions and the industry associations.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or Science.

  • Preferably with at least 3 year’s work experience or at least 1 year of account management working experience.

Other Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills. Fluency in Chinese is essential to communicate with the Chinese-speaking stakeholders.

  • Business-savvy, possess industry knowledge and account management skills.

  • Analytical, self-motivated, result-oriented and dynamic. Able to thrive under pressure, work independently and within a team.

  • Keen interest or knowledge in agricultural industry.

  • Work requires frequent travel to aquaculture farms located off-shore, and candidates should have a good level of physical fitness and be able to swim at least 50m in tidal waters without floatation aids

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health. The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
