What the role is

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) champions the development of a future ready built environment for Singapore. Besides regulating building safety, we lead and transform the built environment sector in delivering a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment.

We are looking for resourceful, energetic and self-motivated individuals who are inspired to play an active role to make a difference to Singapore’s built environment.

What you will be working on

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team specializing in building and façade safety and compliance. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive inspections of windows and unauthorised structures, ensuring compliance with Building Control Regulations. This position requires understanding of the regulations, good communication and writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Surveillance and Investigation/ Regulatory Compliance:

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify non-compliance windows and unauthorised structures.

  • Investigate complaints related to windows and unauthorised constructions and gather relevant information to assess compliance.

  • Interpret and enforce building regulations to ensure structures adhere to regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive records of window inspections and unauthorised structures, including photographs, violation notices, and correspondence with property owners.

  • Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, compliance status, and recommended actions for regulatory bodies.

Communication/ Conflict Resolution:

  • Communicate with property owners, developers, and other stakeholders to explain regulations, address concerns, and facilitate compliance.

  • Handle property owners, seeking amicable and compliant resolutions.

What we are looking for

  • Trained in civil/structural engineering.

  • At least 2 years of relevant site experience.

  • Good command of spoken and written English
