What the role is
What you will be working on
As Manager/Assistant Manager (Student Care) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), you will lead pastoral care efforts across the campus, strengthening the support ecosystem for students. You will work closely with the Student Care Teams across schools, oversee peer support initiatives, and co-develop training programmes to build staff and student capabilities in providing meaningful care and connection.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide leadership and coordination of pastoral care efforts across the polytechnic, working closely with School-based Student Care Teams.
Provide oversight and strategic direction for the Student Peer Helpers, supporting its role in peer support, outreach, and the promotion of a caring student culture.
Design and implement institution-wide student care strategies, frameworks and protocols to strengthen student well-being and early help.
Lead in the development and delivery of training programmes for academic and support staff in the area of student care and engagement.
Monitor trends in student well-being and identify gaps in support, using data and ground feedback to inform initiatives and policies.
Coordinate case management and support for students, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
Provide counselling services to students, including attending to those in crisis, as part of the Student Counselling team.
Partner with academic staff, counsellors, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated and effective care for students.
Support student engagement through preventive programmes, awareness campaigns, and wellness-related outreach efforts.
Maintain documentation and records related to student care cases, while upholding data protection requirements.
What we are looking for
A master’s degree in counselling.
At least 5 years of experience in student services, youth work or related areas, preferably in an educational setting.
Proven ability to lead programmes, manage teams, and coordinate across departments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff and external partners.
Experience in peer support programmes, youth engagement, and pastoral care frameworks.
Familiarity with staff training design, case management, and student well-being data analysis.
Passionate about nurturing a caring, inclusive and supportive campus environment.
