Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP)’s Centre for Environmental Sustainability (CfES) drives industry partnership for green solutions and talent development as part of NP’s Sustainability Education & Ecosystem Development (SEED) initiative. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist, R&D to lead and contribute to cutting-edge research in Materials resource recovery, sustainable materials development, and decarbonization technologies.
Your responsibilities but are not limited to, the following:
Secure, lead and manage consultancy projects focused on environmental sustainability innovation in collaboration with industry partners (startups, SMEs, MNCs).
Enhance CfES’s capability in materials resource recovery, advanced materials synthesis, and surface functionalization.
Cultivate and expand networks with key stakeholders, including industries, government agencies, institutes of higher learning (IHLs), and trade associations.
Conduct research and development of decarbonization process technologies (such as but not limited to: Carbon capture) to significantly reduce carbon footprints from industrial waste.
Perform comprehensive assessments of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conduct lifecycle assessments (LCA) for new and existing products or processes.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to foster and drive innovation in sustainable technologies.
Proficient in project management and execution, including presentations, technical reports, outcome documentation, and vendor/supplier procurement.
Provide mentorship and training to students and industry partners.
What we are looking for
PhD in Material Science, Chemical Engineering or other related disciplines or master’s degree with at least 2 or more years of relevant Industry experience.
Strong analytical skills and experience in operating process equipment’s such as Continuous stirred-tank reactors, Roll-to-roll coating, Twin screw extrusion, Injection molding, and composite/polymer materials characterization, including ICP, MFI, FTIR, TGA, BET, Raman, and tensile strength, ball mill machine, Gas chromatography, etc.
Proven track record on the development of sustainable solutions. Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with industry partners.
