What the role is

The Public Service Division (PSD) aims to build a first-class Public Service for a successful and vibrant Singapore. We do this through public sector leadership development, capacity and capability building and the promotion of quality services at all levels of the Public Service. We are looking for outstanding candidates with the vision and passion to contribute to help shape Singapore. The Challenge The operating environment of the Public Service is undergoing fundamental and rapid change. The issues we face are complex and multi-faceted, which impact the way the Public Service operates and organises itself. Internally, workforce changes require a new approach to workplace design, while technology’s widespread influence has fundamentally changed the way we conduct our business. To prepare the Public Service for these changes, we need to transform the Public Service workplace into one that is lean, agile and digital. We also need to build a productive, collaborative and joyful workplace culture to meet the needs and aspirations of public officers. We are looking to redesign the workplace experience and create a stimulating and empowering work environment that supports officers’ growth, development and wellbeing. In summary, our objective is to enhance Public Service employee experience, so that we have Public Officers who are inspired, supported, and equipped for the future.

What you will be working on

Learning Areas By joining our #PeoplePurposePossibilities internship, you can play a role in improving the workplace experience of public officers, together with partners across the Whole-of-Government (WOG). You will be part of a team that conducts user research and user journey mapping, reviews relevant workplace and flex-work policies, as well as drive pilots on new workplace initiatives to help public sector organisations make work more productive, collaborative, and flexible. You will have the opportunity to develop yourself in the following areas: User Journey and mapping – You will support focus group discussion or surveys to distil data and insights to identify potential focus areas and suggest solutions to improve the workplace experience of public officers. Intervention Design – You will collaborate with stakeholders and agency partners in the implementation of strategies that encompass various aspects such as flexibility and autonomy, well-being, purpose, growth, and productivity. Additionally, you will be responsible for suggesting improvements to interventions aimed at sustaining workforce engagement. Project Implementation – You will assist in new and/or current employee experience transformation strategies to enable purposeful and productive work, foster a flexible, collaborative and caring workplace environment, and develop a diverse, agile and skilled workforce across the public service. During this process, you will support the team for programme ideation and evaluate the impact of the initiatives before brainstorming for refinements. Connector with Public Agencies – You will work closely with public agencies to deeply understand their business needs and tailor initiatives to enhance their workforce experience, all while carefully considering their unique context.

You will be required to demonstrate creativity in brainstorming for solutions.
