What the role is

This is a 2-year contract position as a Assistant Manager/Manager, Special Educational Needs (SEN) in the School of Design & Environment

What you will be working on

As Assistant Manager/Manager (Special Educational Needs - SEN) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), you will lead a team to support students with diverse learning needs, and drive the development, implementation, and evaluation of inclusive education initiatives to enhance our polytechnic’s learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead the assessment, planning and implementation of individualised support plans for students with special educational needs (SEN), in collaboration with academic staff and other stakeholders.

  • Supervise case management processes, ensuring timely and effective intervention, and maintain detailed and confidential case documentation.

  • Design and oversee the implementation of institution-wide inclusive education policies and support frameworks in alignment with national guidelines.

  • Establish and manage data systems to track student progress, service utilisation and programme effectiveness; use data insights to drive service improvements.

  • Develop and present regular reports and proposals to management to inform resourcing decisions and service development.

  • Manage and coach a multidisciplinary SEN support team, including learning support staff and assistive technology specialists, to build team capability and ensure service quality.

  • Collaborate with schools, counsellors, external partners and specialists to provide holistic and coordinated student support.

  • Oversee the SEN function's budget and resources and explore funding opportunities to enhance service offerings.

  • Provide targeted coaching to SEN students to support their individual learning needs.

  • Drive professional development and training initiatives for academic and support staff to foster an inclusive campus culture.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with postgraduate training in Special Educational Needs and preferably at least 5 years of relevant work experience in either SEN, counselling, social work or work involving youths and/or PwDs.

  • A strong background in inclusive education, special educational needs, or related fields, preferably in an educational or social service setting.

  • Proven ability to lead a team, manage operations and solve problems to enhance service delivery and student outcomes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, staff, families and external agencies.

  • Experience in designing and implementing support plans and inclusive strategies for students with a range of learning, behavioural or developmental needs.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in using data to evaluate programme effectiveness and guide decision-making.

  • Familiarity with national SEN frameworks, disability legislation and assistive technology solutions.

  • A passion for student well-being and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
