The Donor Engagement team at the National Library (NL) is responsible for cultivating relationships with donors and encouraging them to contribute Singapore heritage materials to enrich the National Library's collections. This role is crucial in preserving Singapore's documentary heritage and supporting the National Library Board's vision and mission through strategic donor engagement and collection development.

What you will be working on

  • Develop and implement donor engagement strategies to build relationships with individuals, families and organisations.
  • Review and develop policies and guidelines for donation management, keeping abreast of new trends including born-digital donations.
  • Lead the end-to-end donation management process, from initial engagement to collection processing tracking. This includes proper documentation of donation activities and donor acknowledgments.
  • Lead cross-divisional projects, including the annual Donors' Appreciation Night, and organise networking events or activities that strengthen and establish relationships with donors.
  • Manage the promotion of new donors and their collections across various platforms (e.g. mass media, NL websites and social media channels) and oversee donation agreements, copyright clearance and tax deduction applications. This includes collaboration with various internal stakeholders such as Legal, Marketing and Corporate Communications teams.

What we are looking for

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in donor relations and project management. Applicants with no experience may apply. 
  • Knowledge of or interest in Singapore's Southeast Asian history (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management capabilities and experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and strategic thinking ability to develop effective donor engagement approaches.
  • Experience in policy development and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and handle sensitive matters with tact
