Senior Manager or Manager / IT (Contract)

What the role is

As a Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Information Technology (IT) team, collaborating with internal & external stakeholders to create software solutions by writing code, reviewing code, designing applications, and building systems that meet user requirements & business objectives. You will work specifically on systems related to tree and parks management, developing & maintaining applications that support urban greenery inventory & park facilities management. Additionally, you will support daily operations of NParks operational systems, technical infrastructure management, and end-to-end system implementation processes on-premises and in commercial cloud environments using the latest technologies.

What you will be working on

  • Software Development:  Write, review, test, & maintain code to create applications, websites, mobile apps, or system software.

  • System Design and Architecture:  Design software architecture, plan system components, and make technical decisions about how applications should be structured & interface with each other.

  • Requirements Analysis: Work with stakeholders to understand business needs & translate them into technical specifications & user stories.

  • Testing and Quality Assurance:  Write unit tests, conduct code reviews, debug applications, & ensure software meets quality standards & performs reliably.

  • Problem Solving:  Analyse complex technical challenges & develop innovative solutions, often requiring creative thinking & algorithmic problem-solving skills.

  • Collaboration:  Work in teams with other developers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders using Agile methodologies & provide training.

  • Maintenance & Updates:  Fix bugs, implement new features, optimise performance, & update existing software to meet changing requirements.

  • Documentation:  Create technical documentation, code comments, & user guides, video to ensure code maintainability & knowledge sharing.

  • Technology Research:  Stay current with new programming languages, frameworks, tools, & industry best practices to improve development processes.

  • Version Control and Deployment:  Use tools like Git Hub for code management & participate in deployment processes to release software to production environments.

What we are looking for

  • Areas of study in Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent qualification

  • Preferably with experience in a relevant technical role. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent analytical, technical documentation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities

  • Ability to work independently whilst being an effective team player with a positive attitude

  • Experience with HR and Finance systems, Agile methodologies will be advantageous

  • Technical experience with .NET, Github, Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps & Power Automate), Dynamics 365 and Azure technologies.
