What the role is

The Applied Research Unit at the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Institute seeks to gain insights into behavioural WSH risks and human errors in work-related accidents. The team is also responsible for developing suitable tools and interventions to shape progressive practices to improve WSH. This include assessing and addressing workplace stressors and the mental well-being of employees, and WSH ownership.

What you will be working on

You will work with a diverse group of stakeholders to sense and deep dive into behavioural causes and human factors contributing to root causes of workplace incidents. This involves developing and adapting suitable tools to elicit behavourial causes so that appropriate interventions can be devised to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. You are expected to lead projects, develop and validate tools, work with stakeholders to communicate research findings effectively, implement tools and interventions. You will also support departmental initiatives including the design, evaluation and enhancement of WSH assessment tools and systems.

What we are looking for

• Degree in Human Factors, Psychology or related discipline. • Candidates with qualifications in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and who demonstrate a strong interest or experience in Human Factors, are also encouraged to apply. • At least 3 years of relevant experience in applied research and/or project management, preferably with a background in behavioural science, human factors or workplace safety. • Ability to conceptualise, lead and deliver applied research projects, with strong problem solving and project management skills. • A strong team player who is independent, proactive and adaptable to manage diverse stakeholders and changing needs. • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
