What the role is
What you will be working on
You will be part of the Quarantine & Biosecurity Services (QBS) team under the Veterinary Health Division (VHD) of AVS, with the objective of meeting NParks mission to create the best living environment through excellence in nature conservation, greenery and recreation, and veterinary care, in partnership with the community.
Your duties include:
- Supporting the daily operations at Animal Quarantine Centre (AQC) by reviewing, formulating and implementing operational procedures
- Conducting inspections and audits of designated quarantine facilities
- Addressing queries from customers on the import and quarantine of dogs/cats
- Assisting with the management of animals under home quarantine
- Liaising with contractors and other service providers
- Assisting with processing applications for quarantine reservations
- Assisting with the daily care of quarantined dogs and cats and upkeep of the kennels and catteries (e.g. grooming, carrying out checks on animals)
- Assisting with administrative processes and other duties related to the operations of the branch (e.g. updating records, discharge of animals, issuance of certificates, procurement of supplies, etc)
What we are looking for
- Areas of study in Biological Science or other related fields
- At least 1 year experience in working with animals or veterinary related industry
- Comfortable handling live animals (small mammals, dogs, cats, birds)
- Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to learn new IT system applications
- Required to work on weekends and public holidays based on roster
